Summertime, Sunshine, Smiles and Splashes

I'm pretty sure this summer will go down in the books as one of the best ones EVER!  As I tried to cherish every moment with my girls before sending Audrey off to Kindergarten and Addison to Pre-K3, we found ourselves having lots of fun in many different ways.

The girls took gymnastics classes during the summer.

They loved taking bubble baths in mommy's "big tub" after spending hours in the swimming pool.  I think they may be turning into fish!

We spent many days playing dress-up at CHOM.

Audrey and Addison enjoyed their first trip to a movie theater to watch Monsters University.  It was a tad bit scary for Addison, but both girls really enjoyed it.

We made "playgrounds" for the hermit crabs.

The girls and I spent some time in the kitchen baking and preparing vegetables we gathered from our garden.

They are great helpers!

Addison entertained us with some of her guitar music.

She also claimed to dress up like Uncle Keith.

Several days I took my computer to the back porch and worked while the girls played in the sand box, playhouse, and on the swings.

We spent time running around, finding treasures and catching leaves.

Some days we enjoyed a new place we found that has lots of indoor playgrounds an inflatables.

As the final days of summer zoomed by, Audrey and Addison spent time on these little treasures that Grammy bought them.  They splashed on the hop scotch pad and learned how to use the slip-n-slide.

For me, this was the best summer EVER!  We had so much fun spending time together this summer.  I am sad to see it come to an end.  Monday brings the start of school and I am going to miss these girls terribly when they aren't with me.

I'm looking forward to finding our "new normal" and still making time for lots of fun.

McWane Science Center Trip

Before school started back we wanted to take the girls on one last fun trip, so we decided to spend the day at the McWane Science Center.

They tried out laying on the bed of nails.  Addison wasn't so sure about that.

Then they played a little air "basketball".

Audrey and Addison played tug-of war with some other children.

And tried to pull themselves up the ropes.

They played some beautiful music on the harp.

And made bubbles.

They even stood inside a bubble.  That was pretty neat!

This was a favorite area with these two.  They spent lots of time at the water table.  I must admit, I played in it too and it was fun!

Ahh! Addison was swallowed by a fish!

Our little archaeologists loved digging their own dinosaur bones.

They also spent some time trying to construct their own dinosaurs.

It was a wonderful day. I am grateful that we got to spend that time together as a family.  We are already looking forward to another trip there.

Museum of Natural History Visit

Today we took the girls to the Alabama Museum of Natural History.  Both of them are fascinated with dinosaurs and they call this the "dinosaur museum".

We had so much fun walking around and looking at all of the artifacts.  The museum had a scavenger hunt for us to complete.  All of us had a great time looking for all of the objects on the list.

They loved measuring their hands against the dinosaur's "hand print".

I love being able to spend time doing fun things with my girls and learning at the same time.

The Little Mermaid

We took the girls to a theatrical performance of The Little Mermaid.  Addison had never been to anything like this so I was a little concerned that her attention span wouldn't last.

However, this production was absolutely amazing and kept all four of us enthralled until the very end.

After the show, the cast came out and let the kids in the audience take photos with them.  I loved that part.

Without a doubt, the girls just had to have their picture taken with Ariel.

But what shocked me the most was that Audrey insisted she have her picture taken with Prince Eric.

Yikes! Already looking for her prince?!?

Sebastian was my favorite!  He was hilarious!!

And they grabbed photos with several other mermaids. (of course I could only find one to upload)

We loved the show and are looking forward to the next production done by this group!
