McWane Science Center Trip

Before school started back we wanted to take the girls on one last fun trip, so we decided to spend the day at the McWane Science Center.

 

They tried out laying on the bed of nails.  Addison wasn't so sure about that.

 

Then they played a little air "basketball".

Audrey and Addison played tug-of war with some other children.

 

And tried to pull themselves up the ropes.

 

They played some beautiful music on the harp.

 

And made bubbles.

 

They even stood inside a bubble.  That was pretty neat!

 

This was a favorite area with these two.  They spent lots of time at the water table.  I must admit, I played in it too and it was fun!

 

Ahh! Addison was swallowed by a fish!

 

Our little archaeologists loved digging their own dinosaur bones.

 

 

They also spent some time trying to construct their own dinosaurs.

 

It was a wonderful day. I am grateful that we got to spend that time together as a family.  We are already looking forward to another trip there.

Date Night with Our Girls

I've been trying to find time to spend alone with each girl individually.  I think it is important for that one-on-one time and I've been so emotional about Audrey starting Kindergarten so I needed this time with her.

 

Audrey needed shoes and a few things for school, so I decided this was a perfect time for a "date night" with our girls.

 

 

Audrey and I went shopping for her shoes and clothes. Then we grabbed cookies from the Cookie Company before enjoying dinner at the Mexican restaurant.

 

During our date, we enjoyed laughing and talking about what to expect in Kindergarten.  I loved my special time with this sweet girl.

 

While we were out enjoying ourselves, Corey and Addison had their own "date night".  At Addison's request, they went to Lowe's where she bought a Toy Story book and characters. Then they went to Woods and Water to look around.  They ended their night eating dinner at Chick-fil-a and had some playtime and ice cream.

 

What a fun time we all had!  I can't wait for our next "date night" when I can take Addison out and Audrey go with Corey.

Time with Loved Ones

 

This weekend we celebrated Grammy's birthday! Audrey and Addison wanted to pick out a cookie cake for her.

 

 

We went out to eat for her birthday. While we were out to eat, Grandaddy gave the girls their "cow checks". Each year he sells a calf and gives them the money to save for their college expenses.  This has been a tradition started by my Pawpaw back when I was little, so I'm glad the tradition carries on.

 

We also got to spend some time with Nana.  It was so good to see her.  My girls can always make her smile and brighten even her worst days.  They love their Nana.

July Playdates with our Buddies

This summer we have been having so much fun! Almost every week we have been able to meet different friends for play dates.  The kids and adults have been enjoying these times together. We are very fortunate to have such great friends in our lives.

 

Our neighbor, Anna, moved to Georgia recently, but she was back for a visit.  So we took advantage of the few days she was in town to spend some time together.

 

The girls enjoyed some karaoke at CHOM.

Another day we met up with our buddies Sarah and Emily at CHOM.  Following that fun, we cooled off with some Steel City Pops.

 

A few days later we met up with those same buddies for some water fun at the splash pad.



These two precious girls have spent much time swimming and enjoying popsicles!

Museum of Natural History Visit

Today we took the girls to the Alabama Museum of Natural History.  Both of them are fascinated with dinosaurs and they call this the "dinosaur museum".

 

We had so much fun walking around and looking at all of the artifacts.  The museum had a scavenger hunt for us to complete.  All of us had a great time looking for all of the objects on the list.

 

 

They loved measuring their hands against the dinosaur's "hand print".

 

I love being able to spend time doing fun things with my girls and learning at the same time.

Tons of Summer Fun

This past school year we were blessed to become friends with this precious family.  Lydia was in class with Audrey and her mom is also a teacher at the Preschool. The girls became fast friends and their mom and I developed a friendship.  Another great thing is that they live just down the road from us. So we have enjoyed getting together for play dates this summer.

These are some cute kiddos right here!  And they get along so well.  We are truly blessed by these friendships! 

Beach Photoshoot

When we go to the beach, one of my top priorities is having a photoshoot of my girls on the beach.  This year the weather was beautiful and my precious girls did such a wonderful job for me!

 

 

This is one of my all time favorites of my two girls.
