Dance Recital 2013

May brings a super busy time in our lives.  One of those activities is the girls' dance recital.  It is so much fun, but oh so stressful for this mommy.

This year was Audrey's 2nd recital and Addison's 1st recital.

We had dress rehearsals most days the week prior to the recital.

The night before, the girls got their hair all rolled up.  Corey, with his brilliant self, suggested putting a stocking on their head so we could keep the curlers from falling out (a problem we had previously).  Worked like a charm!  I had to get pictures of them looking like that because it was just so funny!

Audrey wasn't too thrilled about the rollers and stocking cap.

The theme for the recital was Cinderella.  Both girls had such beautiful costumes.

Audrey really loved her tap dance and costume.  She did fantastic with it!

Addison only had one dance, her ballet, which was "Sing a Little, Dream a Little".  I was so proud of her.  She did such a great job.

Audrey was a "winter fairy" in her ballet dance.  She looked so beautiful and was so graceful.

My girls!

This is Audrey and Addison with their dancing buddies, Sarah and Emily, who are sisters.

Audrey showing off her bravo flowers.  Such a happy girl!

Addison was thrilled to get her bravo flowers, too.

Papa Kenny and Ms. Marianne drove up to watch Audrey and Addison perform.

Grammy and Grandaddy were there to watch them dance, too.

Proud parents of these little dancers!

We are so proud of you, tiny dancer!

Beautiful job, Little Princess!

Dancing Darlings

At the beginning of December, the dance studio where Audrey and Addison take lessons have a Visitors' Day. Family members get to pile into the studio and watch these little darlings.

Corey was on shift at the fire station (of course) but a co-worker was nice enough to work for him long enough to allow him to come watch both girls. Grammy also joined us for the special day.

This is Addison's first year taking dance.  She loves it and is always showing us what she has learned.  This day was just her cup of tea because she got to show off her moves.

I was really impressed with how well she was doing.

Seriously, can she get any cuter?!?

This is Audrey's 2nd year taking dance.  She really enjoys her classes and I often find her practicing all over the house.  Audrey has really grown and improved with her dancing abilities.

Miss Molly Brook is the teacher for both girls even though they are in different classes. She is an amazing teacher and has so much patience with these little ones.

It takes lots of focus in that tap dance!

It thrills me to see my sweet girls enjoying dance so much.  I'm so glad that we got to have a sneak peek into their classes.

Beautiful Ballerinas

Last week Audrey and Addison began dance lessons.  This is the second year that Audrey has taken dance.  Last year she loved it and did really well.  She couldn't wait for dance to start back this year.

This was Addison's first day of dance.  Last year she would cry every time Audrey had class because she wanted to go in and dance, too.  I knew that since she was old enough this year (barely) that I had to put her in dance, as well.  I can't even describe how excited this child was about classes beginning.  That is all she talked about since the day we got her ballet and tap shoes.

(sorry about the terrible quality of the photos...had to resort to the camera on my phone.)

Miss Molly Brooke is their teacher.  They are in different classes because of age differences, but the same teacher instructs both classes.  Miss Molly Brooke is FABULOUS with the kids.

Addison went right into her class without ever looking back.  She moved and grooved the entire time trying to imitate everything her teacher did.  I don't think the smile ever left her face.

Audrey was excited too!  She couldn't wait to get back to see Miss Molly Brooke (that was her teacher last year, too).  She was much more confident going into class this time because she knew what to expect.  Her friend from last year, Olivia, was back in class with her.  She looked beautiful as she practiced her dance elements and did great following directions.

I was so proud of both of these cutie pies!  I'm glad that they both have my love of dance.  Maybe there will be many more years of dance in store for them both.

Happy Feet

Addison is so excited!  She will be taking dance this year just like big sister.  We went to the dance studio for their open house and bought Addison her very own ballet and tap shoes along with a precious purple sparkly leotard that she picked out all on her own.

The girls can't wait for dance classes to begin!

Miss Tessa helps Addison try on her tap shoes.

Audrey ballet

This past week Audrey had Parents/Visitor Day at her ballet class. We were looking forward to being able to watch her perform all she had been practicing each week. As soon as I found out when it would be I called Grammy to see if she could take off work and attend. I hadn't told Audrey that her Grammy was coming. She mentioned several times that she "really wished Grammy could come watch her". So needless to say, she was so excited when she answered the door and found Grammy there, ready to watch her at ballet.

I took many pictures (surprise!) so I picked a few of my favorites to include below-

This is Audrey with her dance teacher Ms. Molly Brooke. She is such a fun and wonderful teacher. Audrey adores her.

Audrey was just precious and did so well (I know...I'm a little biased. Haha!). We all enjoyed watching her show off. I'm so happy that she loves dancing.

Audrey's 1st Day of Dance

The past couple of years Audrey has taken gymnastics. She enjoyed it, but recently became a little bored. So for several months she had been asking to take ballet. I made her choose which activity she wanted to participate in and she chose dance.

Once she was signed up for dance class and we purchased her dance shoes, leotard and tights, she was so excited she couldn't stop talking about it.

I was one excited mommy, also, because I spent MANY years dancing. So for my little girl to follow in my footsteps made me so excited. All those cute costumes, make-up, songs, and recitals, although expensive, are so thrilling!!

For weeks, Audrey would ask me to "teach" her some ballet. We would practice a few moves (mine were quite rusty :/) in the house.

Then, a couple of weeks ago, the time came for her to start ballet/tap class.

Can you tell how excited she is?!? I didn't even have to bribe her to stand there and smile. She did it voluntarily because she is thrilled to be a ballerina. :)

When we arrived at class, we discovered that our neighbor, also Audrey's dear friend, was in the same class with her. That just compounded the excitement!

Audrey had a wonderful time and has been dancing around our house all day, every day since class.

Shoes are Exciting!

Today, I took Audrey to the dance studio's open house. Today, she got fitted for her ballet and tap shoes. This is one VERY excited little girl. I certainly hope that she likes dance class as much as she thinks she will. I can't wait to see her perform. Now, that should be very interesting :)

Play That Funky Music...

This child knows how to ham it up!

And how to boogy!

And gets so excited when she plays "that funky music".

Of course, we all get a kick out of it too!
