Family Fishing Fun

The girls have been begging to go fishing for several weeks. Thanks to some wonderful friends who have a beautiful cabin and ponds, we were able to take Audrey and Addison fishing after preschool the other day.
We started out with a yummy picnic. Then the girls got serious about fishing.
Addison is a beginner at this fishing thing, so Corey and I spent a lot of time getting the fishing line unwrapped from around her legs and fishing her pole out of the water when she got a bit carried away with casting.

Audrey has become quite a pro at fishing. She can cast that line way out into the water. I loved watching her prance around so confident, telling me how to catch more/bigger fish. I tried to take her advice, but I still ended up hooked into stumps, limbs, and trees. I did catch my fair share of fish, though.
The fish weren't biting all that well, but we did catch several. When Corey or I would catch one, the girls insisted on coming over to "pet" the fish.
Once they got bored waiting on the "big" fish to bite, they went over to harass our bait (minnows).
Those poor minnows didn't last long because they were either carried around so long they died or the girls threw them into the water. As a result, Corey and I had to resort to an alternative bait. haha
Finally, the minnows lost their appeal, so the girls spent the rest of the time lounging on the blanket coloring pictures together.
We had such a glorious day full of smiles and memories. All of us are looking forward to our next fishing trip.

Family Fishing Fun

Last Thursday we took advantage of the lovely weather and loaded up to spend the day fishing.

We began our fishing trip with a picnic. It is always better fishing on a full tummy!

Then we fished...

And watched (this was Addison's 1st fishing trip)

And fished...

And rested...And played...

And fished...

And enjoyed Fun Dip...

And snacked on Goldfish crackers...

And caught some fish... Audrey caught the first fish!

And fished some more...

Then snagged a few more. Yes, Corey helped her pull this one in. It was a whopper!

Audrey caught the BIGGEST fish!

Addison was mesmerized by the fish. Every time we would reel one in she would yell "Bish", "Bish" and want to touch it. If we didn't let her "pet" the fish she would pitch a fit.

And here is evidence that I did fish, and I caught one! I actually caught my biggest fish ever. (not as big as Audrey's...but big enough :) )

Fantastic Fishing with the Family

As you have seen, Audrey can be the cutest little princess...but she isn't afraid of being a little "country" and getting dirty! This girl LOVES to fish. She even wants to watch it on TV when her daddy is home. (BORING! haha)

While we were visiting my family. They wanted to take Audrey fishing in one of our ponds at the farm. She was very entertained playing with the crickets.

But she also wet her hook and caught a few fish...with the help of Granddaddy.

And Uncle Keith had to get in on the action too. Please take notice of the little, BARBIE fishing pole that he is using. I bet the guys that he fishes all those tournaments with will be so proud of him. (I will save his pride and say that he posed for this photo just to make me happy...he was really helping Audrey---but I'm not gonna tell his buddies that! hahahah!)

See...proof he really was helping her ;)

And I even got in a little fishing time too. Yes, I used her Barbie pole. (It is actually a pretty lucky little pole) See...we caught a good mess of fish for us 2 girls. (By the way...Uncle Keith only caught 2- we had 10!)

Audrey's First Fish

Tuesday, March 23 Audrey and her daddy went fishing. And she caught her first fish! :) She reeled it in and everything. As you can tell, she wasn't even scared to hold it. My true little country girl.

That girl loves to fish with her daddy. Now the actual "fishing" lasts about 5 minutes. But she loves casting her Dora fishing pole, throwing rocks into the water, and playing in the dirt. Above all though, she loves the time and attention she gets from her Daddy.

I'm not sure who was more proud of that first fish...Audrey or her Daddy! Of course, her mommy was quite proud too!
