Seen and Heard

Today as I was walking through the living room, I see Addison licking on Audrey's little play electronic computer. I told her not to put her mouth on the computer.  Addison, my adorable 2-year-old,  replied "'da umpuder (computer) say use mouf on number".  I walked closer just as she pressed the button again.  The computer actually said "Use the mouse to select a number".  Hahaha! Audrey and I laughed until we cried!  Addison didn't realize why we were laughing, but she kept licking the computer because she now had an audience! Such a funny girl!

Addison's new thing is to hug my leg tightly and say, "Mommy, I wuv you moon back".  Translation:  "Mommy, I love you to the moon and back."

Melt my heart!!!

Conversation between Audrey and me the other night while snugging at bedtime.

AK: Mommy why do you always wear those rings?  (pointing to my wedding/engagement rings)

Me: Because those are the rings that Daddy gave me when we got married.

AK: When will I get those married rings?

Me: One day when you are much older and you find a wonderful guy who loves you and that you want to marry.

AK: Well, I don't know any boys that don't have a mommy, do you?

Me: Well, if a boy marries a girl, she wouldn't be his mommy, she would be his wife.  Like I am your Daddy's wife, not his mommy.

AK: But you cook and clean for him and wash his clothes too, like you do for me and sissy.  And you do 'cause you're our mommy.

(OHHHH boy!  How do I even go there???? Haha!)

So I just answered...

I do all that because I love y'all, not because I am your mommy or a wife.

(It was the best I could come up with in that "caught-off-guard-but-trying-not-to-laugh" moment. )

I just love these conversations I have with my munchkins!

Seen and Heard

Addison: "NOOOOOOO"!!!!!! (in a screaming voice)

Me: "Addison, you need to speak nicely"

Addison: "NOOOOOO, MMAA'AAMM"!!! (screaming again)

(sigh) At least she had good manners, even if she was still screaming. Guess I should've clarified!

Audrey singing Christmas Carols:

"No telling on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere..."

Conversation with Audrey about Santa:

Audrey: "Mommy, How does Santa get in your house?"

Me: "Down the chimney"

Audrey: "Well, how does he get in without getting burned?"

Me: "Magic"

Audrey: "Well, how does he get in if you don't have a chimney?"

Me: "He can come in through the door. We can leave it unlocked for him".

Audrey: "Where does he put his sleigh?"

Me: "Well, he usually lands on the rooftop."

Audrey: "Do you think he will land in the yard if he has to come in the front door and not down the chimney?"

Me: "He might, I'm not sure".

Audrey: "Well, if he lands in our yard, I hope he doesn't step in the dog poop in our front yard, 'cause I stepped in some today".

Me: (laughing 'til I cried) "I'm sure he will be careful. Maybe he will just land on the driveway and walk on the sidewalk, then he won't have to worry about the poop".

Don't you just love how those little minds work?!

Seen and Heard

Audrey- (while getting up from the floor) "ooohhhh! Uh! (grunt, sigh). Whew!"

Me- "What's wrong?"

Audrey- "Goodness, I'm getting OLD! My back hurts."

Me- thinking- Yes, dear 4-year-old. I'm sure you know EXACTLY what "old" feels like!

Addison escapes from EVERYTHING! (diaper, clothes, carseat, etc). And while Corey and I were talking about her latest trick....

Corey- "Addison is a little Houdini"

Audrey- "Yes, she is a little HO-DANNY"

Walk a Mile in My Shoes

Silly Addison doesn't really like to keep her shoes on...

...but she LOVES walking around in Mommy's shoes.

Coupon Diva

Couponing is something that I have done for a long time. By no means am I one of those extreme couponers, but I love saving money...especially since I am a stay at home mom. My sweet Nana even helps me out by cutting coupons EVERY Sunday out of the paper and sending them to me. She has been doing this for me for years.

I'm training up Audrey to be frugal as well. Well, she at least knows that we cut coupons so we can save money and most of the time you don't buy something unless you have a coupon. I figured that is a good lesson to teach her :)

Most of the time while I am cutting coupons, Audrey will sit with me and cut her "coupons". I give her the extra copies of sale papers and she cuts out the pictures. This week she took to cutting the Toys R Us sale paper. After she finished cutting she informed me...

...that she had coupons for all of these so we could go buy them now! Um...maybe I didn't explain that coupon thing well enough :) I had to tell her that we also had to have enough money to cover the difference. I loved it though! So precious!

And in case you can't tell what these are... 1- wagon, 2- gym set, 3- inflatable water slide, 4- swing set, 5- bike

At least she dreams big!

Why the Second One is Short-Changed

I had always heard that the second child would have much less photos than the first-born. I just couldn't imagine that! I always had a camera on hand and couldn't dream of it being any different.

Well...then I had Addison and she became mobile! Now, I still have quite a few photos of my girls...but since the second child came along, there is much less time for photography because...

....I'm cleaning up where she TP'd my bathroom and bedroom...

...and cleaning out her mouth where she ate all that toilet paper...

...and locating shoes, clothing items, purses, etc that she swiped and hid in a "safe spot".

I can see clearly now why the photos come to a halt after the second is born. Because Mommy is just trying to keep up!!!

By the way...she is into something on a daily basis (along with her big sis) so the fun never ends!

Mary, Mary....How Does Your Garden Grow?

I don't have a green thumb. At ALL!! Mostly everything green in my care ends up dead in just a few weeks. But we do love planting some flowers every year, anyway.

Most of the time they don't have time to die because of my neglect, because they girls "pick" all of them first :)

Audrey and Corey- Our "master" gardeners

And Addison- our horticulturalist in training-

Yes, she still needs a little more training...dirt isn't meant for human consumption!

But she had a blast anyway! (It couldn't have tasted good- YUCK!)

(Disclaimer- I did stop her from eating any more dirt, but I just had to capture the moment with my camera. And I did clean out her mouth as well!)

Good Morning, Mommy

It was 8:30 a.m. and Addison was being so quiet. Audrey and I were snuggled in the recliner watching Dora quietly, waiting on Addison to wake up. I was really impressed that she was sleeping so late (she usually wakes around 7:30-7:45 a.m.) but I knew she had a long day the day before. I decided I needed to go in and check on her to make sure she was okay. (you know, worrying like a Mommy).

I was greeted with this adorable, sleepy face... (Don't you just love the bed-head!)

...then I saw this...

Yep, Little Missy had somehow grabbed all the diapers from the basket and made a mess of them in her bed. I guess she had great fun! And she sure was quite while doing it :)

Getting Into Everything!!

This baby girl is INTO EVERYTHING!! I mean I seriously can't keep up!!!

She loves to spend time playing with these canned drinks. I know I am going to regret allowing this to be one of her favorite activities when one explodes all over the place...but it keeps her entertained for a long time :)

And she loves playing with Audrey's play food for her kitchen. Addison crawled around all day with that chicken leg hanging out of her mouth. I thought it was too funny!

Since she has started table foods and feeding herself, there are many days that I really should hose her off after a meal. Often times, a bath is necessary...as you can tell...

My big girl learning to drink from her sippy cup and eating up some pancakes.

And, in case you needed more evidence, take notice of the dirty clothes basket that she has overturned and was in the process of emptying.

If this isn't a guilty look...I don't know what is!!

Cheeeeese!!!!

Addison likes having her picture taken...however, these photos look like she isn't all that happy about it.  Until you hear the story...

Everytime I get my point-and-shoot camera out for pictures a little red light comes on for the 'red-eye feature'. When the light comes on, this is the look that she gives.  As soon as the light goes off, Addison goes back to acting normal again.  It is the funniest thing I have ever seen.  And the look on her face isn't a smile...it looks kind of evil.  It still cracks me up, though.

So Much Silliness!!!

These two girls are full of silliness!
Audrey adores her Aunt Carol.  I'm sure part of the reason why is because she acts like this....

She wasn't posing for pictures.  This is how she always acts.  You can tell that Audrey eats it up.

Momma Said There Would Be Days Like This...

Oh my!  That is all I know to say at this time.

I usually post on my blog about the fun, sweet things my children do or the milestones they reach, but this post is going to be different.  Here you will see some honest mommy thoughts which have evolved due to the events of the past several days...

Now, I LOVE my girls...with all my heart.  They are my world.  I am so thankful that I get to work from home and spend LOTS of quality time with them and loving on them.  I wouldn't have it any other way.  That being said...I've thought seriously about getting a one way ticket to some place like Hawaii or really anywhere serene that is FAR, FAR away.

For starters, Addison is cutting teeth.  Yikes!  One has already come through and the other is trying desperately to break through.  And she is NOT a happy camper.  She's been fussy morning, noon and night.  Poor baby, I know it hurts...but OH MY!

And let's just talk about Addison's temper!  Yep, she got it from her Daddy.  Don't let that cute smile fool you.  Just take one of her toys away or move something that she is trying to get into and watch the tantrum fly!  OH MY!!

Then---Audrey, as some of you know if you keep up with us, started preschool several weeks ago.  Well, she is having some pretty rough separation anxiety.  She cries the whole time at preschool, plus she even gets upset if I leave the house and she stays with Corey.  It breaks my heart, so that has been pretty stressful for me.  And that isn't the only thing that preschool has done for us.  Many people told me that she was going to pick up some unpleasant behaviors from school, and you bet she did!  Oh, the sassiness and defiance have my hair turning gray as I type!  I thought that didn't come until we were close to teenage years...(sigh).  Plus, the temper tantrums are quite dramatic as well.  I just THOUGHT we escaped the "terrible two tantrums", but no--they just waited until 3 to show up.  OH MY!!

Here is a story to top it all off--- Audrey told me she needed to use the bathroom the other day, so I told her to go on to the bathroom (we were playing in the living room).  A few minutes later she returns and mentions to me that she peed in her trash can.  WHAT?!?  Yep, you read that right!  My sweet, precious, adorable Audrey decided to forgo the toilet and just try out the trash can instead.  Now, I have to admit that this stunt required some talent on her part.  I was so shocked, upset, angry...I went storming outside and informed Corey that he needed to take care of his daughter because I just didn't have it in me to handle that episode.

After all was said and done, Audrey promised not to use the trash can as a toilet...and when she wasn't looking, Corey and I had to laugh.  'Cause you gotta admit, that was sorta funny. Heck, she didn't even get any on the carpet!

Seen and Heard

The other day while I was cooking supper, Addison began to get fussy when she was in her swing. So, I asked Audrey if she would please go give Addison her paci. Audrey agreed and kindly stuffed Addison's paci into her mouth. Two minutes later Addison began crying again and Audrey raced over to Addison. Audrey put her hands on her hips and said to Addison- "Honey, What's the problem? I just gave you your paci.". Then she stuffed the paci back into Addison's mouth and ran off to the other room to play.

------------------------------------------------------------

We were going to have leftovers for supper and I asked Audrey if she wanted spaghetti or beef tips and rice. She thinks for a minute then looks at me and says, "ummm- I'm gonna want Q-tips and rice".

Stuck on You!

What happens when you give a 2 year-old some mail to open without paying attention to the enclosed items???? This:

Nana sent Audrey a card with a TON of stickers enclosed. Well, I saw it was addressed to Audrey (she loves getting mail) so I just handed it to her to rip open. She took it to the couch and sat there patiently ripping into it. All the while, I busied myself in the kitchen doing the dishes. After a few moments of silence, I walked around the couch to find this...my toddler decorated with stickers...EVERYWHERE!!!!! So I had to laugh, take a picture, then call and tell Grammy and Nana about it.

And when Corey got home, he fell victim to her decorating desires as well. What a great daddy!

Potty Time

We are still in potty training mode at our house. Audrey is doing pretty good. It is taking much longer than I anticipated...slowly but surely. She does fine when we remind her to go every so often, but she will not tell us when she feels the need to go. We've bought the "big girl" panties, bribed with candy, stickers, DVDs, etc. You know...all the stuff those books say. I figure one day she will just up and surprise us. But, she is doing great and so proud of herself when she does use the potty.

On that note...how about a little comedy while you potty? Why, wearing panties on your head is the "in" thing to do, right?

Corey showed these photos to me as I was eating the other night and I nearly spit my mouth full of food all across the table. They were too cute not to share.

P.S.- You can bet I will save these to show off to any future boyfriend prospects. haha!

Cooling it~

Is this not the most adorable little 2 year old you've ever seen?! Well, her mommy thinks so. I just had to share this photo.

The other day we were outside playing and Audrey kept asking me for a "hot pickle". I knew she liked pickles so when I asked if that is what she wanted, and she replied "No"...I was confused. She now repeats things over and over and over if you can't understand her until you finally catch on. So she is looking at me like I am crazy saying, "hot pickle", "hot pickle", "HOT PICKLE"! I finally figure it out...this kid wants a POPSICLE! I laughed for 20 minutes after that. It was too adorable.

Seen and Heard...Funny

This past weekend we were at my parents’ house. They so kindly offered to watch Audrey one evening so Corey and I could have a date night. While we were away, Audrey apparently injured her hand and of course the grandparents and Uncle Keith rushed to her aid to provide kisses to her boo-boo. While they were offering comfort, Audrey, in the middle of her crying, said “I pitiful”, “I pitiful”. They all had to hold back chuckles until she was all better. Of course when Corey and I returned and they shared the story, we had a good laugh.
